Today I have experienced a very “ritual” activity for those who live in Istanbul and in Turkey. Almost everyday of the week, you can find a “bazaar” setup. These bazaars will host everything from clothes to food to spices to house stuff. Of course, some are more popular than others. One of the most popular ones is the “Tuesday Bazaar“. I have been dying to go to one mainly for the clothes and accessories. However, it turns out that the “Friday Bazaar” is also hosted in the same area and contains more clothes AND I read in “Istanbul Life” magazine that there is HUGE selection of fabrics at the Friday one. I was amazed at the selection and quality of the fabrics. I have been pondering a project with my future sister-in-law (more on that later) and also another project I got inspired to try after seeing Kingdom of Style’s Queen Marie’s DIY organza skirt. I bought about 2 meters of organza fabric in three different colosr at only 3 YTL each (about 2 bucks)!!!!!! I cannot explain my excitement!!!! The only disadvantage is that I am not guaranteed to find the same fabric again next week. Most of them are factory left overs – I swear I saw so much Chanel like material. So you have to make sure you get enough. My suggestion is to buy as much as you possible can….it is so cheap! I am just saddened with the fact that I won’t be able to attend these bazaars when I start working. Oh well…can’t wait until I got the skirts sewn.

Hayatımda pazara iki kere gitmişliğim vardır. Her iki deneyimde bayağı güzel geçmişti. Bugün bu deneyimi Cuma Pazarında tekrar yaşadım. İstanbul ve Türk kültürünün büyük bir parçası olan bu rituel hiç bir zaman eksilmesin hayatımızdan! Yok yoktu!!! Tabi ben daha çok İstanbul Life magazininde hakkında okuduğum kumaş pazarını çok merak ediyordum. Gittiğimde de gerçekten ağzım açık kaldı. Diğer yaşadığım memleketteki kıtlıktan sonra kendimi kumaş cennetinde hissettim. Sevgilimin kızkardeşi ile planladığım ufak bir proje için (bu konuyu sonra tekrar açacağım) ve Kingdom of Style´dan esinlendiğim organza etekler için kumaş aradım. 3 farklı renk organza kumaşın 2şer metresi için tam 3 YTL ödedim!!!! İnanılmaz!!!! Tabi bu işin dezavantajlarıda var. Aynı kumaşı önümüzdeki hafta tekrar bulacağanızın garantisi yok. Onun için alırken fazladan almak şart. Nasılsa ucuz! Çoğu artık kumaş olduğu için vitrinlerde gördüğünüz kumaşı tekrar pazarda görmeniz mümkün. Tek üzüldüğüm şey işe başladığımda bu pazarlara gidemeyeceğim….Neyse, bundan böyle sır organza etek projesinin takibinde….
